Sustainable State Practices to Support Districts with The Emergency Connectivity Fund
ExcelinEducation
June 17, 2021
NOTE: 9:00 am Arizona Time
Information and Registration
The Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) is an unprecedented $7 billion opportunity to get the nation’s students connected and close the longstanding homework gap. States have a responsibility to help the most high-needs schools and their students leverage these emergency measures. States can craft policies that build on the ECF to ensure equitable access to connectivity and digital devices, and practices that will persist, even after federal programs and emergency funds come to an end. The webinar will spotlight a handful of key states – Texas, Illinois, Arizona and Rhode Island – and their best practices on how to close the digital divide for the long term. Speakers include Milan Eaton, State Erate Director for Schools, Arizona Department of Education

Special Online Workshop: E-rate Emergency Connectivity Fund
Presented June 9, 2021
SHLB - Schools, Health and Libraries Broadband Coalition
Link to Recorded Workshop Coming Soon
The Federal Communications Commission recently announced the rules to apply for the E-rate Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF), an historic opportunity for schools and libraries to connect students and patrons to home broadband. Unlike traditional E-rate funding, the $7 billion ECF program will allow schools and libraries to pay for off-campus connectivity and internet-enabled devices, such as laptops and tablets. Any school or library seeking funding from this program will need to digest a host of new rules in a flash due to the very tight application windows. Jessica Rosenworcel, Acting Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission, key architect of the ECF rules, Kicked-off the workshop with words of wisdom about the program. The workshop provided schools, libraries, and vendors with the essential strategies and information needed to submit successful funding applications.
